About the Director

 Pedro Lafargue-Molina, Food Scientist & Agroindustry Engineer. Born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, Pedro comes from a family of farmers and agriculture is a tradition that he learned from his mother, uncles, and grandparents. Pedro grew up in the city but every time he was helping his family in their farm, he would daydream about becoming one of them. His mother and uncles had experience in the farming of green plantain and banana, so they started mentoring Pedro and after some time he decided to follow his dream - planting cacao and changing the path of his life and that of his family. From this moment on, he was immersed in working with cacao crops and their social impact.

Pedro is the director of the startup, Tree Of Wisdom Chocolate Ltd United Kingdom (TOW), a position he has held since 2018. Moreover, he works as PhD candidate at the University of the West of England (UWE) in metagenomic studies of the fermented cacao beans, working to improve the supply chain of certified cacao into the chocolate industry. Previously, he has held the roles of Managing Director of TOW SuperFood Chocolate and SANELI Cooperative Platform in Manabí Ecuador (2010 - 2018), Food Technical Engineer in the branch of new products in PRONACA (2016 -2017), Production Leader as the industrial engineer of new factories at the multinational QUALA S.A (2015-2016)
